Traditional tributes to church and village making Fiji's poor poorer

Fiji has a significant poverty problem, with estimates that 30 per cent of its population live in absolute poverty, with 15 per cent living in one of over 200 squatter settlements, the majority in the capital Suva.

While many are earning a wage, for many it's not enough to lift them out of poverty.

Father Kevin Barr from the People's Community Network says the number of people living in squatter settlements is likely to increase.
