Why 'bath salts' are dangerous | Health X Pert Articles-Health care ...

On Saturday night in Miami, a naked ?zombie-like? man attacked another man , biting off parts of his face. The attack was halted only when police shot and killed the attacker, identified as 31-year old Rudy Eugene. What would make someone attack another man like an animal? Armando Aguilar, president of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police, suspects that the attacker was under the influence of? drugs known as "bath salts." These aren?t the same bath salts to make your tub water smell nice. ?Bath salts? is just a fake name, but users know it?s not really for the bath. Dr. Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse described bath salts as an "emerging and dangerous product" in February 2011, urging parents, teachers and the public to be aware of the potential dangers associated with these drugs, which had already been linked to numerous visits to the E.R. and calls to poison control centers in the U.S. In October 2011, these "bath salts" and its related products were put on schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act, which means that the drug has no legitimate use or safety in the U.S. and is highly addictive. Bath salts contain amphetamine-like chemicals such as methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV), mephedrone, and pyrovalerone. They?re referred to as a ?designer drug of the phenethylamine class? by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Other drugs in this class include amphetamines, mescaline, and ephedrine. MDPV comes in a powdered form that is inhaled, swallowed or shot into a vein. Bath Salts are sold as "cocaine substitutes" or "synthetic LSD". When MDPV gets to the brain, the effects include producing feelings of empathy, stimulation, alertness, euphoria, sensory awareness and hallucinations. Other reported effects include rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, and sweating. According to the DEA, MDPV has been reported to cause intense panic attacks, psychosis, and a strong desire to use the drug again. ?Addictive substances, whether they are bath salts, alcohol or other drugs, can have horrific and costly consequences. Sometimes these consequences can result from only one use; other times they are a result of the complex brain disease of addiction," says Susan E. Foster, vice president and director of policy research and analysis at The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University. "Together, risky use of addictive substances and addiction constitute our nation?s largest and most costly health problem. ?In the interest of health and public safety, Americans must begin to understand that substance use is a preventable public health problem and addiction is a treatable disease," she added. In 2009, reports began surfacing about teens and young adults abusing synthetic stimulant products sold as Bath Salts, ?plant fertilizer," energy-1, Ivory Wave, Red Dove, Purple Wave, Blue Silk, Zoom, Bloom, Cloud Nine, Ocean Snow, Lunar Wave, Vanilla Sky, White Lightning, Scarface, and Hurricane Charlie. The Drug Enforcement Administration's forensic monitoring system found two reports of MDPV in 2009. In 2010 that figure jumped to 338 cases. Between January through September 2011, the numbers skyrocketed to 911 MDPV cases, spanning 34 states. Filed under: Addiction , Mental Health Tagged: Ann J. Curley ? CNN Medical Assignment Manager

septet governable: Self Improvement & Memory Training: On The ...

Knowing what to do in time of adversity is the first step towards victory in life's battles. The Bible informs us that it's not the beginning of something that really matters but how it ends. In essence, the conclusion should be drawn . Many people start well yet can't finish well. Such experience and examples are around us every day. Life is a journey and every Christian and non-Christian takes this journey. The final earthly destination is death (the grave).

The road you travel on, how you travel, and with whom you travel will determine your position . The critical elements of the journey of faith are (A) Knowledge - of the will of God and the devices of the devil against you (B) Understanding - having proper perspective of the challenges that confront you each day (C) Patience - the grace to carry on in the face of success or failures and (D) Steadfastness - remaining calm and settled with your focus set .

The scripture reminds us that there's a great cloud of witnesses around us each passing day. I see this great cloud as humans, angels, circumstances and demons. All these have impact on our finish line. Over the years many have started out well, living for the Lord but unfortunately they have fallen away never to come back. We must know that how we begin can impact the end but in reality, it never justifies the end. See Hebrews 12:1-3.

To finish well, we must stay the course and travel light with no undue burdens. Here are three keys that can make you a champion .

1) You must be totally focused on running the race.

You can't achieve success unless you can see it from where you are. It's written, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews 12:2, KJV). Jesus knows our end from our beginning. Therefore, it's of a necessity that our hope and trust be placed in him.

We've so much going on in our future if we can see the finish line and forget about yesterdays' "could nots, would nots, can nots and do nots." Focus on finishing well, on your healing, on your deliverance, and on your success with God's help. The spirit of winning is ignited when we can see ourselves .

2) Let Jesus Christ be your example.

As much as we can, be a blessing and benefit to one another, it's absolutely necessary that our trust be on the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7, KJV). Philippians 4:13 tells us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

The things behind us have taken their course and effect already. How we see and handle them now is consequential . You can draw strength and hope in Christ or you can wallow in your defeat, set-backs, and unfortunate past. The choice is yours.

3) Guard your thoughts.

If you ever thought of winning, you must begin to think and act like a winner. When you walk in victory in your thought life, you'll be victorious in your daily life. As I said in my book, "My Mind, Lord," your thoughts go before your actions. The seeds of thoughts you sow will produce its kind.

We're born again for victory not defeat. Our various trials have many solutions if we're living for Christ. "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all"(Psalms 34:19).

Set your eyes and he that has gone before you will grant you the grace and the desires of your heart. For more uplifting articles follow the link below.

Japan minister visits nuke plant amid safety worry

TOKYO ? Japan's environment and nuclear minister visited the tsunami-crippled Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant on Saturday to inspect a spent fuel pool at the center of safety concerns and said it appeared to have been properly reinforced.

The visit by Goshi Hosono, apparently aimed at demonstrating the safety of the facility, came amid renewed concerns about conditions at the plant's No. 4 reactor after its operator reported a bulging of the building's wall. Nuclear regulators ordered a new investigation and seismic tests of the building and its pool.

The building was damaged by an explosion and fire soon after the Fukushima plant was hit by a massive magnitude-9.0 earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011. The pool, located at the top of the building above the reactor, remains one of the plant's biggest risks due to its vulnerability to earthquakes.

The plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co., has reinforced the structure and says it now can withstand temblors as strong as last year's quake.

A small group of journalists was allowed to enter the reactor building for the first time with Hosono. Inside there were piles of broken wall panels, pieces of cement and mangled equipment, showing the magnitude of the explosion.

I may be an average joe, but a bulging wall indicates pressure. This may not be a good thing. Bulges usually blow out.

Safari to South Africa with Adventures by Disney - Part 2

A few weeks ago, I began a series on a unique trip I took to South Africa with Adventures by Disney (ABD). If you've never heard of ABD, it's a unique arm of Disney Travel which creates fully planned vacations around the world. You can get caught up on the first part of my adventure here: South African Safari Part 1.

Day 5 Garden Route
Word of the Day: Knysna --Knynsna means ferns
Early 5:29 am

We met the group in the lobby where the hotel provided us a continental breakfast. We then were given a boxed lunch on the way to the bus to eat in route to the airport. When we got on our South African flight in Cape town we were served another light breakfast. I was definitely well fed and ready for the flight to our next destination.

We were met at the George Airport by our trusty bus driver who had thoughtfully driven most of our luggage the day before (so we would not have to bother with luggage hassle at the airport!). Our next stop was the scenic Fancourt hotel where we arrived about 9am and had a sprawling (you guessed it) breakfast We then went to . . .

MONKEYLAND!!

Wow, this place was awesome! (with a name like Monkeyland, it has to be good!) The monkeys are all surrendered by their owners who were overwhelmed by the difficulties of keeping these intelligent wild animals as pets, others are surplus primates from zoos.

This place is amazing. Imagine walking through your local woods, but instead of seeing squirrels everywhere there are monkeys!! There are many types of Primates here: Prosmimians (lemurs etc), New World Monkeys (Found in central and south America, all with prehensile tails), Old World Monkeys (All Monkeys from Africa and Asia) and Apes (represented in Monkeyland by Gibbons and Humans).

We were amazed and amused by these great creatures, and found out one important tip: When your guide says no food, this means dried fruit also.

One of our group took out a PIECE of a dried apple to eat quickly (diabetic and needed to raise blood sugar) and a gibbon did NOT like that it was not his and got quite close, showed his teeth and his posterior to us! At that point, the apple was quickly tossed to the offended monkey and we scampered to the gift shop. Whew!!

Birds of Eden is a short walk next door.

Birds of Eden sanctuary was created with the intention of re-homing a number of unwanted birds, giving them the opportunity to live in a more natural environment. The birds here were quite beautiful and many got quite close to us. There were also marmosets which followed us around almost like a puppy. We did not touch any of these animals, but they got rather close to us.
After our tour of Birds of Eden it was lunch time!
Good thing we had multiple small breakfasts earlier, as it was about 2pm and we were hungry. In my opinion, was one of the best meals of the trip!

Lunch at Bramon Wine Estate?fresh homemade food, great wine Lunch was set up on picnic tables in the vineyards. The food was incredibly fresh and the wine was phenomenal.

Next up was a motorcoach ride to Pezula. Normally ABD stays at a hotel in town, but this trip Pezula was our hotel.

WOW. Pezula is called the Pebble Beach of South Africa. There is a golf course running throughout the grounds, and there is even a castle you can rent!

We got to see the castle as part of our hotel tour. Nelson Mandela stayed here, as well as many rock stars and celebrities wanting privacy. We went through 5 privacy gates (with guards!) to get to the castle.

Built into the rugged cliff-face with direct access to the beach, the castle complex has its own chef, executive butler and housekeeper. I can certainly see why the rich and famous like it here!

After being wowed at the castle we went to check into our own rooms at Pezula.

Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on for Chrome

Many websites and services make use of Google Analytics, a web statistics service that is tracking web users on websites where the script is installed. Besides the tracking, there is also the aspect of loading times that are affected by the script. Web users who do not want to be tracked, or want sites to load faster, may want to consider blocking the Google Analytics script from running on sites they visit.

Firefox users can use the excellent NoScript add-on for that, which takes care of both issues. Chrome users can install comparable solutions like NotScript or ScriptNo. Some may however feel that they interfere to much with day-to-day web browsing.

blocked-google-analytics

The Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on for the Chrome browser may not be the perfect solution, as it only tackles the tracking problem but not the loading of the script itself, but it does not interfere with other scripts running on the site. The Chrome extension has been created by Google, which may be the reason why the script is not blocked outright. According to information posted on the Chrome Web Store, the add-on ?communicates with the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js) to indicate that information about the website visit should not be sent to Google Analytics?.

It basically means that the script is loaded, and that the add-on notifies the script that the visit should not be tracked.

Another solution that is working universally on the system would be to block Google Analytics in the hosts file. Simply add the following two lines to your hosts file:

  • 127.0.0.1 www.google-analytics.com
  • 127.0.0.1 ssl.google-analytics.com

On Windows, the hosts file is located in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc directory. Just open it in a plain text editor like Notepad, and add the two rows to the end of it. This basically redirects requests that websites make to Google Analytics servers to the local system where the script can?t be found. Webmasters should keep in mind that this may prevent them from accessing the Google Analytics website.

Maine churches plan collection to fight gay marriage

By msnbc.com staff

Ahead of Maine's vote to legalize gay marriage, many churches there are planning to pass the collection basket around on Father's Day to help fundraise against the ballot initiative.

Up to 200 churches are expected to raise money for a political action committee opposing the November vote, the Christian Civic League of Maine told The Associated Press.

The Catholic Church won't be joining the alliance, but participants include?Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal, Nazarene, Church of God, Wesleyan, Evangelical Free, Advent Christian and other denominations, the league stated.

While churches and other nonprofits may not raise money for candidates to office, they may raise money for issues important to their members.

Father's Day, June 17, seemed appropriate for a special church collection because of the day's focus on family, league Director Carroll Conley Jr told the AP. Additional collections are expected in the months ahead.

Watch the most-viewed videos on msnbc.com

"The messaging we're using is that those who are seeking to redefine marriage in Maine believe there's no difference between moms and dads," Conley told the AP. "We believe those differences are relevant. We don't think the differences in the genders are societally imposed roles, and we believe that children benefit when they're in that ideal environment where there's a mom and dad."

AP noted that several churches are working to pass the initiative.

The referendum is about inclusion, a "loving God" and being nonjudgmental and compassionate, said?Rev. Sue Gabrielson, the minister at the Sanford Unitarian Universalist Church.

MMA Crossfire - UFC 146: dos Santos vs Mir predictions

UFC heavyweight champion Junior ?Cigano? dos Santos makes his first title defense against challenger and former champ Frank Mir shortly at the Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

dos Santos won the title in November of 2011 with a quick knockout win over Cain Velasquez, while Mir impressively took out dos Santos? mentor Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 140 last? December.

An all-heavyweight main card does not happen every day. Enjoy this one thoroughly folks.

Welcome back to The Crossfire.

MMA Crossfire Expert Cassie Wiseman checks in with her thoughts on the main card:

Cassie is a mixed martial artist with over five years of study. Training primarily in South Korea, she has black belts in Taekwondo, Hapkido, and Muay Thai kickboxing. A proud Canadian from Roberts Arm, Newfoundland, she files for The Crossfire having recently returned from South Korea. She also blogs for Postmedia Networks? Womens Fight Club website.

LAS VEGAS, NV ? MAY 25: (L-R) Opponents Roy Nelson and Dave Herman face off after making weight during the UFC 146 official weigh in at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 25, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Josh Hedges/Zuffa LLC/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images)

Roy ?Big Country? Nelson (17-7-0) vs. Dave Herman (21-3-0)

Wiseman: Regardless of the KO power of Herman, one thing that Nelson has been able to prove in the UFC is that he can take a load of punishment. That has also been a problem that Nelson has had, just throwing a single punch but eating a flurry. Herman brings a wrestling background into the mix, but he isn?t going to want to take Nelson to the ground because Nelson is superior off his back. A key to this match for Nelson is the cardio problem that plagues Herman. Nelson will eat a lot in the first round, but Herman will slowly tire leaving room for Nelson to fire a few bombs of his own.
Wiseman Prediction: Roy ?Big Country? Nelson v?a decision.

LAS VEGAS, NV ? MAY 25: (L-R) Opponents Cain Velasquez and Antonio ?Big Foot? Silva face off after making weight during the UFC 146 official weigh in at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 25, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Josh Hedges/Zuffa LLC/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images)

Cain Velasquez (9-1-0) vs. Antonio ?Bigfoot? Silva (16-3-0)

Wiseman: When it comes to fighting bigger fighters,? Velasquez is well-schooled. He?s shown his speed, wrestling and cardio can test any man. There are questions about his torn rotator cup and if it?s fully healed, but other then that Velasquez will be able to out maneuver Silva. Compared to the fighters Velasquez fought in the past, Silva doesn?t bring anything to the table that Velasquez hasn?t seen and dominated before.

Wiseman Prediction: Cain Velasquez via TKO.

Junior ?Cigano? dos Santos (14-1-0) vs Frank Mir (16-5-0)

Wiseman: The odds are all in favour for dos Santos, but don?t count out Frank Mir so fast. We all know that JDS is going to try for a KO and there is no question that his striking and striking speed is superior to Mir?s. The problem that comes into play is if Mir is able to take things to the ground. JDS has shown good takedown defense in the past, so Mir would need to try for a sweep or something outside of a single or double-leg takedown. Against Mir is his struggle with getting off the cage. Going against a fighter like JDS who will continue to throw bombs, could make for a short night for Mir. Another problem that Mir has shown in the past is his struggle with clearing his head after being rocked. If a fighter gives Mir time, then it?s a different story. The unfortunate part for Mir is that JDS will keep coming until the referee steps in to call the fight. We haven?t seen JDS? ground game, but considering Mir submitted the best of the best, there is no question that JDS doesn?t want things to go to the mat. Granted Mir?s standup has improved, but his combinations don?t come close to that of JDS? and since every fight starts standing, and JDS has better takedown defense then Mir has takedown ability, this is going to be a rough night for Mir.

Wiseman Prediction: Junior ?Cigano? dos Santos via TKO.

Excitons form Bose-Einstein condensate

Physicists have trapped and cooled exotic particles called excitons so effectively that they condensed and cohered to form a giant matter wave.

This feat will allow scientists to better study the physical properties of excitons, which exist only fleetingly yet offer promising applications as diverse as efficient harvesting of solar energy and ultrafast computing.

"The realization of the exciton condensate in a trap opens the opportunity to study this interesting state. Traps allow control of the condensate, providing a new way to study fundamental properties of light and matter," said Leonid Butov, professor of physics at the University of California, San Diego. A paper reporting his team's success was recently published in the scientific journal Nano Letters.

Excitons are composite particles made up of an electron and a "hole" left by a missing electron in a semiconductor. Created by light, these coupled pairs exist in nature. The formation and dynamics of excitons play a critical role in photosynthesis, for example.

Like other matter, excitons have a dual nature of both particle and wave, in a quantum mechanical view. The waves are usually unsynchronized, but when particles are cooled enough to condense, their waves synchronize and combine to form a giant matter wave, a state that others have observed for atoms.

Scientists can easily create excitons by shining light on a semiconductor, but in order for the excitons to condense they must be chilled before they recombine.

The key to the team's success was to separate the electrons far enough from their holes so that excitons could last long enough for the scientists to cool them into a condensate. They accomplished this by creating structures called "coupled quantum wells" that separate electrons from holes in different layers of alloys made of gallium, arsenic and aluminum.

Then they set an electrostatic trap made by a diamond-shaped electrode and chilled their special semiconducting material in an optical dilution refrigerator to as cold as 50 milli-Kelvin, just a fraction of a degree above absolute zero.

A laser focused on the surface of the material created excitons, which began to accumulate at the bottom of the trap as they cooled. Below 1 Kelvin, the entire cloud of excitons cohered to form a single matter wave, a signature of a state called a Bose-Einstein condensate.

Other scientists have seen whole atoms do this when confined in a trap and cooled, but this is the first time that scientists have seen subatomic particles form coherent matter waves in a trap.

Varying the size and depth of the trap will alter the coherent exciton state, providing this team, and others, the opportunity to study the properties of light and mater in a new way.

###

This most recent discovery stems from an ongoing collaboration between Leonid Butov's research group in UC San Diego's Division of Physical Sciences, including Alexander High, Jason Leonard and Mikas Remeika, and Micah Hanson and Arthur Gossard in UC Santa Barbara's Materials Department. The Army Research Office and the National Science Foundation funded the experiments, and the Department of Energy supported the development of spectroscopy in the optical dilution refrigerator, the technique used to observe the exciton condensate in a trap.

DNDi welcomes World Health Organization expert recommendations to begin negotiations for an R&D convention at the World Health Assembly

After a decade-long process of analysis and deliberations on ways to better address the health needs of developing countries, a recently released report of the Consultative Expert Working Group on Research and Development: Financing and Coordination (CEWG) will be discussed this week at the 65th World Health Assembly (agenda item 13.14). The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi), a not-for-profit research and development (R&D) organization, welcomes the experts' conclusion that 'the time has now come for WHO Member States to begin a process leading to the negotiation of a binding agreement on R&D relevant to the health needs of developing countries'.

A decade ago, R&D for poverty-related neglected diseases was at a virtual standstill. Since then, there have been significant changes in the landscape for these diseases, with now some 150 new R&D projects, including for drugs, diagnostics, and vaccines, in the pipeline. This progress stems from international pressure and the engagement of new public and private actors and donors in both endemic and non-endemic countries, as well as initiatives such as product development partnerships (PDPs), which were set up to fill the gaps left by policy and market failures.

However, despite incremental progress, the essential health needs of the vast majority of the world's population are still largely unmet, current R&D efforts are still too fragmented, and financing is still far too fragile. Genuine therapeutic breakthroughs that are adapted to the needs of patients in resource-limited settings and that have the potential to fundamentally transform the treatment of many neglected diseases, notably those with the highest death rates, have yet to make their way through costly clinical trials and reach patients in need.

As a not-for-profit R&D organization that has delivered six new treatments for neglected patients and that has advocated for increased public responsibility and a more enabling environment for neglected disease R&D, DNDi welcomes the analysis and findings of this report.

'The analysis from the WHO consultative expert working group clearly shows that it is time to better coordinate current initiatives, secure additional and sustainable financing of essential health R&D, and strengthen WHO's role in setting R&D priorities so that innovation addresses those most in need and patient access is ensured', said Dr Bernard Pcoul, Executive Director of DNDi.

DNDi published a policy brief to relate the findings of the report to its experience in R&D for neglected diseases. DNDi's own 'lessons learned' include four essential key components:

1. New financing mechanisms are necessary to provide adequate and sustainable funding, secure new funding sources, and engage public responsibility in addressing global health needs.

2. R&D strategies based on open innovation models are critical to boost innovation globally, reduce duplication and costs of R&D, and speed up delivery of new medicines to patients. Such open innovation initiatives supported by public funding should be designed to secure access for patients by delinking the costs of R&D from the price of products, delivered as public goods.

3. Increased involvement of disease-endemic countries in the coordination of R&D, especially in defining priorities based on patient needs and in allocating resources to identified priorities, is essential.

4. Innovative regulatory pathways are needed to ensure timely patient access to treatments, reduce total costs of delivering treatments, and ultimately support greater capacity strengthening in disease-endemic countries.

'We have to give a clear response to the millions of patients who suffer and die every day from neglected diseases, not only in Africa but in all developing countries. Eighty per cent of the world's population will directly benefit if their needs and their voices are reflected in the decisions taken today by the world's governments and the WHO', said Dr Monique Wasunna, Assistant Director, Research, Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and Head of DNDi Africa. 'This is a unique chance to make a real and lasting difference to stimulate and sustain innovation and access for neglected patients.'

'Despite this time of financial constraint, additional and sustainable financing for clearly defined priorities is necessary', said Dr Pcoul. 'It is imperative that governments and the WHO take responsibility for defining a new framework for better coordination of essential health R&D to address the needs in developing countries and for generating new funds for this purpose. After a decade of discussions, it is time now to act.'

About DNDi

The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) is a not-for-profit research and development organization working to deliver new treatments for neglected diseases, in particular sleeping sickness (human African trypanosomiasis), Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, specific helminth infections, malaria, and paediatric HIV. DNDi was established in 2003 by Mdecins Sans Frontires/Doctors Without Borders (MSF), the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ) of Brazil, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), the Ministry of Health of Malaysia, and the Pasteur Institute of France. The Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (WHO-TDR) serves as permanent observer.

Since its inception in 2003, DNDi has delivered six new treatments for neglected patients: two fixed-dose antimalarials (ASAQ and ASMQ), nifurtimox-eflornithine combination therapy (NECT) for late-stage sleeping sickness, sodium stibogluconate and paromomycin (SSG&PM) combination therapy for visceral leishmaniasis in Africa, a set of combination therapies for visceral leishmaniasis in Asia, and a paediatric dosage form of benznidazole for Chagas disease.

DNDi has helped establish three clinical research platforms: Leishmaniasis East Africa Platform (LEAP) in Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Uganda; the HAT Platform based in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for sleeping sickness; and the Chagas Clinical Research Platform in Latin America. Strong regional networks such as these help strengthen research and treatment-implementation capacity in neglected disease-endemic countries. www.dndi.org

If You Wish To Succeed On The Web Choose The Best Domain Name

One of the greatest things you can do when starting up an online business is to make certain you get the very best domain name possible. Should you be unaware, the domain name for an Internet site is what you'll be keying into your browser when you want to go to that web page. When you decide to build a website or have a website developed for you it is imperative that you select the best domain name for what ever specific niche market you will be entering. Something that you are going to find out is that a good domain name can decide if you are going to be prosperous or if you are setting yourself up for failure.

The first thing you have to know is that there are many different extensions with regard to domain names. For people who don't know exactly what an extension is, it's the part of the domain name that comes after the dot, as an example .com and .net. The most professional looking domain extension will be the .com, even so there's also other reasons that you want to get a .com domain name. You are almost certainly one of the people who normally just automatically enter .com after the site name that you enter. Allow me to try and explain exactly why this is critical, if you own healthissues.net, there is a good possibility that somebody that types your domain name in their Internet browser, they will probably type in healthissues.com and you lose a visitor to your site. Because of this one of the most significant things when choosing a domain name is making certain you get a .com.

You now can get started thinking about the actual domain name that you are going to choose for your Internet site. For this example we will be working with the widget niche. A domain name such as wehavegreatwidgetsatgreatprices.com is not a good choice as it is way too long and individuals will not want to enter this into their Internet browser. An excellent domain name for a widget website would be something like buywidgets.com. A domain name that will be short like this is something that people will enter into their web browsers and it is in addition something that folks will remember. At this point I think you can understand why picking a short, unique name is so essential.

Something else that is important to bear in mind is that you want your domain name to focus on your niche. To clarify this a little better, and adhering with the widget niche, you'll want to locate a domain name that has widget or maybe widgets in it. Also do a little keyword research to see if there are a lot of folks in search of "cheap widgets". As soon as you do your research, and if it turns out that there are truly a lot of people in search of that phrase you need to then check to see if the domain "cheapwidgets.com" is a domain name that is available. This will wind up helping you to get ranking for that keyword phrase, so when folks are searching for that they will have a better chance of finding your site.

Some men and women know that they ought to try to get a keyword specific domain name, however they will still end up picking a different domain name merely because it may sound cooler. If you think about that for a minute, if you are advertising and offering widgets, a domain name like redrockcanyon.com will not be a very good domain name. Because of this it is essential that you match your domain name to your niche market.

I am certain by now you understand how significant it is to select the right domain name for your Internet business. The recommendations above were designed to help you get targeted visitors from the search engines and if you don't stick to them you might find that getting top search engine positions may be hard.

Donna Summer died of lung cancer, feared triggered by asbestos ...

Donna Summer, died aged 63 after a difficult battle with lung cancer.

The singer, famed for her 1970s ?I Feel Love? hit, was in New York on 9/11 on the day of the Twin Towers attacks in 2001.? She was in her apartment nearby when the toxic cloud containing asbestos, lead and mercury filled the sky.

It is reported that Donna believed breathing the deadly dust triggered her lung cancer.

Speaking about the ordeal, she said ?I was really freaked out by the horrific experiences of that day. I couldn?t go out, I didn?t want to talk to anybody. I had to keep the blinds down and stay in my bedroom. I went to church and light came back into my soul. That heaviness was gone.?

The 2001 September 11th attacks killed around 3,000 people on the day. But the legacy of the toxic dust cloud is still claiming lives more than ten years later.

It is said approximately 1,000 people were exposed to the asbestos containing dust have died, and 350 of them from cancer.

Cancer rates have tripled amongst police officers who were at the scene. A further study established 60,720 people were at risk after inhaling dust and fumes.

The 9/11 Federal Health Director, Dr John Howard is quoted

?I think it is plausible that many people will die of the many conditions we?ve seen due to their exposure.?

Tributes have poured in for the singer from all over the world and her family made the following statement

?Early this morning, surrounded by family, we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith?
